Media alert – Identify, Takeover and Disrupt: Public Hearing Livestream
The Independent National Security Legislation Monitor (INSLM), Mr Jake Blight will hold a public hearing as part of an independent review into the necessity and impact of certain Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) electronic surveillance and disruption powers.
The review and public hearing will provide a forum for the press, national security and policy agencies, the legal profession and others to make submissions on the operation, effectiveness and implications of the special surveillance and disruption powers.
Witnesses at the 19-20 February public hearing will include senior AFP and ACIC officers, the Law Council of Australia, Australian Human Rights Commission, industry and civil liberty groups, academic experts and media. Please see the hearing program for full details.

The inquiry has received 24 submissions.
The INSLM has released an Issues Paper to provide information on the use of AFP and ACIC electronic surveillance and disruption powers, and key issues being considered in the review.
