Working at the INSLM Office

The Independent National Security Legislation Monitor (‘the Monitor’) is assisted by the INSLM Office. The INSLM Office is staffed by a small team and sits within the Attorney-General’s Portfolio.

INSLM staff are generally employed under the Public Service Act 1999, though there is provision for staff who are employed under other Commonwealth laws to be made available to the INSLM under section 33 of the INSLM Act.

Positions in the INSLM office are advertised on APS Jobs. This may include ongoing and non-ongoing positions. In addition, summer placements will be advertised for law students who are close to completing their degrees or have recently graduated.
